This is a ball deck system we recently installed. The ball air cargo deck is comprised of two areas.
One area of the ball deck is used for accumulation of built up ULD pallets to accept cargo from the land side for transfer to the air side. This area of ball deck is a 5,000 square feet with 6 static racks set up as the feeders to the main ball deck. Yankee Supply Air Cargo designed the ball deck system to withstand the active and rugged abuse that is generally applied to ball deck systems. Along with heavy steel construction all associated parts to the ball deck were lagged to the floor as well as embedding guard rails directly into the warehouse floor at the dolly loading and the static rack interface.
The other area of ball deck is used for receiving landside ULD pallets at the loading dock which is comprised of two scissor lifts.
To accommodate different height trailers two heavy duty scissor lifts were installed. One lift is a 10’ x 10’ lift the other lift is a 10’ x 20’ scissor lift with a 30,000 lb capacity for both of these lifts with custom ball decks that were outfitted with safety stops to prevent personal, doors and so the cargo would not be damaged
This land side ball deck system and scissor lift area were outfitted with a special integrated winch system, at each dock, that can be used when cargo that is inside trailers that needs to be pulled onto the scissor lifts and then moved on the ball deck to then be moved onto the tug dollies.
These winch systems are a more effective way of moving stubborn ULD’s from the trailer onto the lifts and into the warehouse rather than having personnel physically push the material onto the lifts.
This system was a custom design and fit to this specific ball deck requirement. Call us to discuss you specific ball deck requirements so we can help you with the best ball deck solution.
