Dock boards are temporary fixtures used to load merchandise in and out of trucks.
Dock boards are a dock leveler that lets forklifts access trucks that do not have a dock door. They are attached to the truck so that dock levels may be averaged with the dock doors provided by the dock. The dock board has cleats across it to which dock boards may be attached. The dock board is then pushed onto the dock board where it is secured by pushing down on both ends until they stay in place. Dock boards are used whenever a truck’s dock height must be elevated to an even level for unloading and loading purposes. They also serve to bridge the gap between the truck and the dock.
Dock boards are used for dock levelers in situations where the dock does not have a fixed loading dock plate. These ancillary pieces of equipment are important for efficient function of dock operations at warehouses, so it is important to keep them properly maintained and replaced as needed. The dock board is bolted to the dock plate and provides a solid base for the dock leveler to work from, more or less acting as an extension of the dock itself.
